A runway show happens once, and only the angles a camera caught survive it. What is at stake
The drape of the fabric, the swing of a hem, the way a jacket sits across the shoulders as the model turns: this is what a collection actually is, and it lives on the runway for only a few minutes. When the show ends, all that remains is whatever a camera happened to point at.
For the millions watching on a phone, that means one angle, one frame rate, one interpretation of how the garment moves. And for the shopper deciding whether to buy, a flat image cannot answer the question that decides the sale: how does it fit, drape, and move on a real body?
The collection's story. Months of design work get minutes in front of the world. Whatever goes uncaptured is gone with the show.
The audience. Remote viewers never choose their seat, their distance, or their moment. The broadcast decides for them.
The sale. When fit and motion cannot be judged from the imagery, shoppers guess, and guesses come back as returns.
The challenge
Today's answer is more cameras: a packed photographers' pit at the end of the runway, a jib or two, a broadcast truck cutting between preset positions. The result is more footage of the same walk.
And the technology that could solve it has never been able to reach the show. The show is in a different venue every season, on a live broadcast clock, and the capture has to be there and ready the same day.
More cameras is not more coverage. Every added camera is still bolted to a fixed position. Stacking more of them multiplies footage without adding one coherent angle a viewer can move through.
Volumetric stages are locked to one room. 4D Gaussian Splatting and volumetric video exist today, but the stages behind them are fixed installations with a locked volume size. Built for a studio floor, not a runway that changes venue every season.
Live was never part of the design. Folding a fixed stage's output into a live broadcast, a real catwalk, and a same-day turnaround was never in the plan. The stage and the show run on two different timelines.
The Radiant approach
Meridian 4D captures the runway as it actually happened. Untethered, battery-powered nodes wrap the show's real footprint, straight catwalk, round stage, or L-shape, and record every look from every angle at once. Nothing is generated or approximated: every splat is built from real photography of the real garment, on the real body, in real motion, captured live during the actual show.
That capture becomes a 4D Gaussian Splat the audience can move through: any seat, any height, any distance, any frame rate, even the model's own vantage point.
The asset leaves the runway. Because the output is a true 3D asset, not flat video, the collection can be lifted out and placed anywhere: a virtual store, a branded VR world, an AR try-on in the shopper's own room. It plays on broadcast television exactly as filmed, and on headsets, AR glasses, and interactive web players. A passive broadcast becomes an experience the audience steps inside and moves through on their own terms. Built-in image-based lighting seals it: the volume is lit with the same dynamic light as the destination environment, so the garment looks filmed there, not pasted in.
The same array feeds the broadcast live. Bullet Time and Virtual Dolly moves generate on-site at roughly 10 frames of latency from selection, so producers cut to a frozen 360-degree orbit or a virtual camera move while the show is still running, with the full 4D Gaussian Splat ready right after.

Consumers are on pace to return more than $885 billion in merchandise in 2026 alone.
Apparel drives a huge share of that number, and the reason is nearly always the same: a shopper cannot tell how a garment fits, drapes, or moves from static photos. More flat images do not fix it. Only motion does.
The same gap decides sales far beyond fashion: footwear, eyewear, furniture, automotive interiors, live sports and concert merchandise. Wherever motion closes the sale, flat images leave money on the table.
